The Old Town Hall Bank Museum and Exhibit Hall

19933 Fisher Avenue, Poolesville, MD 20837

On July 21, 2006 we purchased the former Poolesville Town Hall. The former Town Hall (and former Poolesville National Bank) has become Poolesville’s gateway for Montgomery Heritage Tourism and includes a museum of Poolesville’s historic role during the Civil War. A grant of $175,000 from the State of Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) and Heritage Montgomery helped fund the acquisition and renovation of the building. Further generous support was given by Austin and Gogo Kiplinger and the Kiplinger Foundation.

The Bank Museum has an ongoing Civil War exhibit that presents Poolesville’s role during the war through actual artifacts found in the town and surrounding area, encampment replicas, and drawings and pictures of skirmishes and key individuals tied to Poolesville. The 1907 bank, which for years served as the Poolesville Town Hall, has been restored to its original appearance.
